How to Pursue Your DEI Goals Without Putting a Target on Your Back

DEI is under scrutiny as never before but the goal of DEI programs—to develop a true meritocracy where you recruit from the full labor pool and retain the best talent—is not going away. Luckily, the best way to control for legal risk is also the best way to attain that goal.

Laura Maechtlen, chair of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Labor & Employment department, will join Equality Action Center director Joan C. Williams to discuss the future of DEI, including what to name your initiative and what approaches EAC has documented that really work. We'll also discuss which kinds of practices are high-risk, which are low-risk (many of the most effective ones!) and which fall in between.

Suggested Audience: This webinar will benefit those who are involved in organizational policies and practices around HR and DEI. It will also benefit individuals interested in the ongoing conversation around DEI policy and its implications for the future of work.

Professor Joan C. Williams
Distinguished Professor (Emerita) and Founding Director, Equality Action Center @ UC Law SF
